The Reverend Bruce J. Evenson, Pastor
Father Bruce has been a Godsend to us here at St. Johannes! An ordained Lutheran AND Episcopal priest, he has a special and rare quality and desire of reaching out beyond denominational and religious lines. This has helped St. Johannes become one of the warmest, most welcoming, and ecumenical churches in Charleston! Besides delivering passionate, warm, and inciteful sermons, Father Bruce has a special gift and affinity for pastoring his "flock". As a former chaplain for Roper Hospital, his countless hospital and home visits to his sick and infirmed parishioners has become one of the hallmarks of his pastorship here at St. Johannes. Father Bruce's quick wit, dry sense of humor, and love for verbal repartee makes him an immediate "hit" with our many visitors and guests. Add in a large portion of self-depracation and humility, and you have one of God's rare and special gifts for whom we feel so blessed and thankful to have as our pastor and friend!

George Hiatt, Organist-Choirmaster
George brings energy, enthusiasm for Liturgical worship, and a love for music to our music program, and specifically our chancel choir. He is one of the Charleston area's most technically gifted and accomplished organists. So, it was really no surprise to us when George was recently invited by the music director of St. Matthews Lutheran Church to be service organist for their annual Reformation Sunday Service! The well-attended service included organists, choir members, and clergy from many of the tri-county area Lutheran churches. But besides his talent as organist/pianist, George is probably one of the most synergistic folks you could ever hope to have as your choir director. Blessed with an abundance of patience and humor, George continues to somehow bring the very best out of the chancel choir. He truly makes singing and learning new music together fun and exciting, all the while keeping our focus on giving our talents to the glory of God!

Nancy Hendricks, Parish Secretary
Nancy is the latest addition to our church staff, and has been doing a terrific job for us! She is no stranger to our church, however. As well as being a top-notch, detail-oriented parish secretary, Nancy is also an accomplished and veteran organist and has actually substituted here at St. Johannes in the past. We are so blessed to have at our disposal her many talents!

Church Council
President: Kay Winnett (Parish Life Committee)
As a past church council president, Kay offers church council a plethora of knowledge, experience, and energy. She helps keep the money matters of the church well-grounded and on track. She is also more times than not heading up the organization, setting up, and smooth operation for our Dessert Tea Rooms and other special occasions.

Vice President: Tom Pinckney (Evangelism Committee, Parliamentarian)
Tom's many years of experience as an attorney at law, and his cornucopia of knowledge of the law, has been an invaluable asset in helping guide council to rational, well-thought-out decisions! His heritage dates back to the colonial era; he is a direct descendant of Thomas Pinckney, an ardent patriot in the American Revolution. Pinckney was South Carolina's 36th governor, and, among a host of other high posts and accomplishments, was notable for presiding over the state convention that ratified that new U.S. Constitution. We love having Tom - and his tremendous sense of humor - on council!

Secretary: Robbin Mosier (Christian Education and Ad Hoc Committees)
Robbin does so much for our church. A teacher by trade, she is one of the teachers for our new children's Sunday School class! Robbin also coordinates the decorating of the church sanctuary for the different seasons. But, probably her most miraculous feat is somehow transcribing our monthly, digitally-recorded council meetings into accurate and understandable minutes, which she then saves as a document and emails to every council member in a very timely manner!
